getting support
Sometimes you might run into an issue on town and need some help figuring it out. Most problems are best solved by asking about them in the chatroom, but a few things might require admin intervention.
Asking for help in IRC
Our learning resources are constantly improving, but the best place to ask
for help is always the chatroom! If something is unclear or isn't working as
expected, hop on #tildetown on town chat and folks will be happy to help you
figure it out, or point you to the admins if it's a deeper issue.
Contacting the admins
For some things, you'll have to reach out to the admins. Some of the things that
we'll be able to help you with are renaming your account, killing rogue
processes, investigating broken town commands, etc.
- Reaching out via IRC: you can send a message to the admins by sending a
message prepended with
!admins, either in the main#tildetownchannel or in a private conversation withadminbot. One of the admins will reach out to fix the issue. - Emailing support: if you're unable to log in to tilde.town or join the
IRC, you can reach out to the admins by emailing
root@tilde.town. We try our best to reply to all messages.
If you lost your SSH keys used to log in to tilde.town, you can run ssh
help@tilde.town to recover your account and add a new key without contacting
the admins.
