Reddit sucks now because they started using algorithms to inject content for subreddits in which I have no interest into my feed. It has probably been shown that if users subscribe to subreddits with many hundreds of thousands of other subscribers, users get more addicted to their Reddit feeds, which leads to more ad revenue. I deliberately avoid these subreddits because they are full of repetitive, low-quality content (low-effort memes).

A few years ago I went through my list of subreddits and deleted everything except for the subreddits that I really like and are focused on a very specific community of people (/r/emacs, /r/haskell). I got rid of /r/programming and /r/linux and these other subs that try to cater to general audiences.

Well, the Reddit algorithm cannot allow that. These subreddits that I explicitly removed from my feed keep showing up as "recommendations." I click on the "not interested" button, but this button doesn't actually do anything, the recommendations for that particular subreddit just keeps showing up. I have noticed that other people I used to see on Reddit often aren't there as often anymore either. Reddit seems to have repulsed anyone who used to post quality content.
