for the last few years ive started watching a ton of movies. ive been working thru all the godzilla movies, but tis the season for some queer cinema, so put a few of those on the big rectangle!

• Paris is Burning

  A classic! Look at drag and voguing in NYC in the 80s. I hadn't seen this before, and it was a treat. What stood out to me is how much slang still permeates our current lexicon. We're still throwing shade 50 years later!
• The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

  Another classic but this one I've seen before. A great mix of funny and super heartfelt.
• Portrait of a Lady on Fire

  I heard great things when this came out, but never managed to catch it. A bit of a slow burn (heyo!), but a beautiful romance.
• Pillion

  A new release I heard some back and forth on. I thought it was mostly quite good, but I feel like a few tweaks around how Skarsgård's character was portrayed would've really made this wonderful.
• But I'm A Cheerleader

  WOAH this is so fun. I love love loved the colors and set design. I also enjoyed see RuPaul, who I'm only familiar with thru Drag Race.
• Fun In Shorts at Frameline

  Frameline is the oldest LGBTQ+ film festival and it happens right where I live and I never heard of it! We went to some shorts that also featured a intro of a fun drag performance.

  John Waters!! What! This one was alright. I loved the bits that made this queer (lesbian and trade bars feature prominently), but I think the story as a whole fell a bit flat.
• Double Team

  This is one of those so bad its good kinda movies. The delivery of every line is so woody, but the love between Dennis Rodman and Jean Claude Van Damme is PEAK.

This was super fun! If you've got recommendations for future watches, I'd love to hear them!
