You pick up the coin case with two hands. Aquamarine and cobalt blue waves undulate across the thin but sturdy cardboard cover. You turn it over to find an ornate silver coin inside the size of your forefinger and thumb tips touching, plus four empty slots.
Setting it aside, you stretch up from your blanketed spot on the bed to lean on the windowsill and peer through the glass over the street below. Snow has begun to fall, diligently coating the sidewalks in white while children play.
