I have a secret nerd streak. I am fascinated by the vibe of different Operating Systems. Its not something I talk about to most people, as their eyes glaze over. Most dont think much outside of convienience when it comes to computing. My favorite Operating System is not convienient. In fact, I cant get some of the software I use regularly to run on it. But its still my favorite. More than a convienient apartment in a big city, OpenBSD feels like a simple log cabin in the woods. You dont have all the modern convieniences. But you have everything you need. The walls and doors are secure, and the peaceful simplicity has a value all its own. No pop culture popularity here. And you have to chop your own wood to stay warm. Id like all areas of my life to be this simple and reliable.
