I thought it would be interesting to explore what if we each had a stat/skill sheet, like in MUDs or D&D.
And what if others could see that skill sheet?
Would that help us understand where others are at, and lessen our expectations around another's knowledge/abilities in a given arena? Allowing us to then adjust our approach to a person.
If I know that someone has less experience reading history than I do, I would approach a conversation about that topic differently than with someone who has a higher level of that skill.
Mostly it only makes sense to share things on your stat/skill sheet that you are interested in practicing/sharing/talking about.
Probably everyone should have a skill sheet and particular fields, like athletes, might also want a stat sheet.
There are numerous questions that arise:
How to assess a number for a skill or stat? How can we flatten complex skills into simple one-dimensional numeric stats?
What is the right scale to use? Maybe hours of time spent on developing them? That seems less arbitrary than any other scale.
Should it be called a skill sheet? Would another term help it be more accessible beyond game world? I actually find skill sheet pretty clear.
