These are the mixtapes you normally pay for. If you can, I
highly recommend going to a record shop and getting a CD of one
of these bad boys. You can probably also find rips of these on
streaming services, but Spotify has shown that they are
perfectly willing to break up a smooth transition between tracks
by just making some of the tracks unavailable in your region. Be
wary.
Probably the longest standing premium mix series around right
now. Most of the mixes here are pretty introspective, and very
good for at home listening
Good examples: Moodymann,
Motor City
Drum Ensemble, Special
Request
Personally my golden standard for good mixes. Though there are
less solid steel mixes than fingers on my hands, pretty much all
of them are just good. There are even a few on youtube
so you can see how good they are! Also very suited for the at
home listening experience.
Good examples: Now listen!,
It came
from the sea
This is the newest series, and indeed most of the albums are
bangers. While the other 2 series were more for the
"intellectual" listener, Fabric focusses more on bringing the
club to your own home. They are very dance focused. You can play
these to your friends, if you like. It's also an offshoot of
fabriclive, which is pretty much in the same vein as Fabric
Presents, but older, and slightly lower quality.
Good examples: Chase
& Status, Leon
Vynehall, Overmono
There is a lot of music to be found on the internet. DJs all
around the world have a desire to share the music they love in
the various mixes they make, and radios broadcast these mixes constantly.
Again, I think these guys are pretty good in general.
Varied selection of DJs that each have their own idea of what
the structure of a mix should be like. Expect some
exceptional stuff in here with a lot of style
