New Living Arrangements
the worst of the moving stress has passed. My stuff is out of the old place, into the new place. Now I just need to finish unpacking and marvel at how much my life has grown that it doesn't fit into one room anymore.
This is the first time I've had a roommate since college, so about 10 years ago. We're doubled and tripled up on several house necessities - two vacuums, several copies of plates and pots and pans. Luckily, only one couch between us, so that's been easy. It's currently piled up with about seven different blankets and too many pillows, though. A three-seater that only has space for two as currently configured, as long as those two don't mind being cozy. And it is so, so cozy.
The new experience this time around is that the roommate has a dog, Sam. A 16 y.o. something-poodle. I haven't lived with a dog before, I grew up with cats, and it's turned out I'm allergic. It's only a few days in, so Sam is still anxious about the new place and having some separation anxiety from roomie. But he's getting better, She's out tonight and he's just curled up on a cushion at the foot of the couch while I read.
