i am left drained
like half a water bottle poured onto the pavement on a hot day

evaporating faster than a good dream

like a bubbling fried egg on a pan
trying to scream at you

that it hurts

but you can't get your words out
you just gurgle hot oil, trying to even get a letter out while it's burning your throat

don't worry though,
someone will sprinkle a bit of pepper in there just to add a different kind of burn
