NAME
names for the plural system commonly known online as nbsp

DESCRIPTION
we're a plural system. each of us has names and pronoun preferences.
we additionally have a collective name. this document describes them,
as well as some historical context.

   some historical context
before 2026-03-04 we did not have a collective name for use online. at
the start of the 2025–2026 academic year, when we moved to the Nether‐
lands, we decided on a name to use in person, and we found it lovely
and useful enough to promote it to general use, with some changes.

   the names
the system-wide name for us as a group or any of us generically is Is‐
abela Vidart. we prefer the dimunitive izzy and she/it pronouns in
       English.

headmate names and pronouns are provided below:

EXAMPLES
       • when referring to us as a group, in person, or in any other occa‐
sion where speaking in plural terms would be clunky, awkward or
wrong, use izzy. you may use izzies, the izzies, or just nbsp if
           you wish.
       • if referring to a singular one of us, use that individual's name.
       • if you don't know who you're talking to, prefer izzy as above, but
chances are good that it's aoife. alternatively, ask!
