Tilde.town carnival august 2025

Hello! Welcome to the first tilde.town carnival! The idea is that there is a theme, and anyone who wants to can publish a blog post or art piece, and at the end of the month i will list them all here. For more information, you might want to look at the the indieweb page!

Each month has a different person hosting. This month it's me!

The theme this month is... prose and poetry

You can interpret this however you want. Do you write it? Do you read it? Do you love it? Do you hate it? How does it move you? It's however you take it :)

The deadline is the 31st August. Just pm on the irc or send me an email to noa@meanwhiling.com.

I look forward to seeing what people have to say!

Contributions

Writing prose is easy by ~mio

The first contribution was a little poem by ~mio called writing prose is easy. It's a cute little poem about the different acts related to reading and writing prose, and how mio feels about them. I really like it!

poetry and proses by ~dozens

Next we have ~dozens's compilation called poetry and proses. Dozens has left us lots of little treats! An idea i really like is that of the poems directory, a place in our home directory where we can keep our favourite poems for easy perusal whenever we want. Our own anthology.

Poetry and prose by ~noa

Next is my own contribution, some short writing called poetry and prose. I want to talk about my favourite kind of prose, the essay, and how i think it's a bit poetic.

Fears of finalising by ~aurabubble

Next is ~aurabubble's limerick called fears of finalising. It's a clever limerick about not finishing things, if you read it you'll get it! I'm really happy they decided to submit so close to the deadline so that we can all share this.

Poetry by ~pilosophos

Following on is ~pilosophos's poetry about dumpster diving. I really like the message of this one, that even if someone else doesn't want something, someone else might be able to make good with it. My own guitar i found with no strings or nut or tuning pegs in a charity shop, sold as "ornamental" for five pounds. I bought it and fixed it up, and now i have a guitar which feels worth more than one off the shelf. Thank you pilosophos!

Prose and poetry by ~acdw

Finally we have ~acdw's entry, a simple essay called poetry and prose. As he says, he's written a lot of really good poetry, so i'm impressed with the modesty with which he decided to discuss other people's poems instead! The topic is something we can all relate to, even if we haven't really thought about it, and the critique of green eggs and ham made me truly laugh out loud.

Conclusion

Thank you so much for everyone for sharing your poetry and your prose and your thoughts on poetry and your thoughts on prose! I really look forward to what happens in next month's carnival :)
