I believe that technology genuinely makes me a nicer person. Case in point, this afternoon I added this one-liner to my .mailcap file:

Doing so prevented me from screaming at two or three well-meaning yet technically-uninclined people, and thus my karmic balance was restored.
Started really digging into learning LaTeX today, after spending a day or two reading tutorials.
I absolutely love it.
I think it's another case of having an appreciation of old school tools that work well on light hardware.
Plus, the typesetting is absolutely gorgeous.
I don't have a huge reason to be diving down this particular rabbit hole at the moment, but I'm secretly hoping that I'll be able to use it in the near future on some work related projects.
Something got screwy with my last entry. It's crashing feels, and I'm not sure how to fix it.
Adding this entry as a test to see if it fixes the problem.
If you were watching my web space here, you may have briefly noticed I had a site uploaded.
I've been developing a new website for my performing company, and I got a chance to debut the basic site design to the team yesterday.
Tilde.town gave me a convenient place to demo the new look, and I'm grateful for the resource.
I think once I finish the big website project, I may try and put some time into an actual personal page here. I've been feeling that itch for a personal presence, despite not really having much to say.
I also had a lovely fedi-thing in my physical mail today. I am now the proud owner of a hackers.town patch! I'm not generally the sort of person to put patches on anything, so who knows where it will end up.
I was having trouble setting up autojoin in weechat on tilde.town last night. Every time I edited the autojoin list, running "chat" clobbered it and dropped me back in the default #tildetown channel.
Got nosy and poked at the server a bit:
$ cat /usr/share/bin/chat
weechat-curses -r "/server add town localhost; /set \ irc.server.town.autojoin "#tildetown"; /connect town"
Yeah, that'd do it.
Don't get me wrong, this is a terrific configuration idea to get people started. That said, I'm tempted to add something to the wiki to point out the potential problem once you grow a little more ambitious.
An old friend of mine used to have a tradition of making all of their first posts on a new site the same exact absurd phrase:
"Hello, fellow Lemmings...I'm here for my Kool Aid!"
It's a little sarcastic for my tastes, and sadly I learned a long time ago that lemmings aren't as foolhardy as you might expect.
Still, I'm really excited to play around on a server that's geared towards creativity and social interaction.
Of course at the moment I'm still settling in, and I don't have much to say just yet.
