today i started working on a small thing. the idea is that you could build like a little ascii room, and then you could walk around in it. kind of like a roguelike, but without the random generation and the stress.
i'm writing it in lua. there are probably better languages to use for this but oh well. (lua is just what i'm comfortable in, tbh...) ideally it'd be like a fullscreen program, but i had some technical difficulties setting that up.
i don't really know what i want to record in feels.
in the morning i fell back asleep and had a weird dream. i'm not going to go into too much detail but it eventually featured a location i'm pretty sure i have seen at least one other time in dreamspace. some kind of red desert i think. for some reason i'm in a vehicle traversing the weird terrain and at some point it just yeets itself across a gap and lands smoothly somehow. it's probably comparable to if this area were a weird vr demo.
my dreams don't feature enough dragons. i'm disappointed, brain.
anyway... thinking of writing a very simple concatenation-based sitegen. (mostly for my vibes page...)
so. this place is neat.
i tried starting an irc bot. i ultimately settled on writing it in ruby. i don't actually know ruby, but i can probably pick it up as i go. the framework the bot uses is outdated, but it works.
so far i'm mostly using cosnok as a point of reference for the code. i'll probably call the new bot mechadrake.
