On the 14th I went to the Bruno Mars concert here in Milan, Italy. It was
amazing. The show opened with Anderson Paak, going through various pop hits
from the 1950s all the way up to the early 2000s. His energy was contagious,
felt like an american half-time show with the cameras framing the audience. The
second opener was another artist whose name I forgot, and honestly, she wasn't
matching the vibe, most people couldn't care for her as an opener.
Now, to Bruno Mars. The first part of the show was mostly songs from the new album. The album is good, but because it is some of the newer stuff not everyone knew the lyrics to sing along. He did sprinkle some other older songs here and there that were not from the new album, mainly lyric-heavy songs, as in, without a dominating chorus.
The second part of the show was all about Silk Sonic, here Bruno Mars had a
blast with Anderson Paak. The vibes were immaculate, and the stage presence was
strong. Afterwards he performed some of the 24K Magic album, which matched the
vibe of the Silk Sonic stuff.
The third part, and the best one in my opinion, was all about the classics. A
mix of the Doo-Wops & Hooligans and the Unorthodox Jukebox albums. First
some of the more fast paced songs, followed by the classic Bruno Mars slow
songs. Here Bruno Mars was not the only one shining, the crowd sang along every
single song. It was incredible, experiencing over 50000 people singing together
in unison was magical, and with a lot of emotion too (When I Was Your Man hit
particularly hard).
The tickets were expensive, but for such a performance they were worth every single euro.
