Martin P6M SeaMaster

The SeaMaster was an experimental nuclear-capable strategic flying boat bomber designed to fulfill American's naval nuclear triad requirements. It almost entered service — 12 aircraft were built, and the aircraft was just 6 months away from entering service.

Due to budgetary constraints, the P6M was scrapped and replaced by the Polaris SLBM.

Just from looks alone, the Seamaster has to be one of my favorite flying boats. IMHO, most flying boats are rather ugly - they are fat, stubby, and have bulbous noses. The Seamaster surpasses all the stereotypes of an ugly flying boat - With its pointed and aerodynamic nose, sleek cockpit contours, and the beautiful V-tail, it competes with the JRM Mars as (imo) the most beautiful flying boat of all time.
