Me and this coffee cup against the Eepies...
Wound up attending the grad school writing event with a friend, and it's fairly lowkey, which is nice. I think I might make a habit of attending. The coffee is super strong, which is nice- and I snagged an oatmeal cookie. Looks like the first chunk is mostly preoccupied with goal setting (neat) and there's a brief wrap up towards the end to assess writing progress. Mostly just a space to sit down and tap away at some work though, which is helpful. And it's a little less desolate than showing up to the grad lounge, though I do still love working there.
Figured out where the bathrooms and the water fountain are on the fourth floor- in the opposite direction that I'd naturally head out in, and the open seating area does actually have outlets on the stations. The water fountains are the same kind as those in the main building I've class in just before- the old push to fill ones, which is both inconvenient and sort of for the best, since the automatic one does involve a lot more accidental sloshing and wasting of water when the machine hasn't quite detected that my full bottle has been removed. Had a lovely comment from one of the other people attending the event that they 'loved how pink (you) are' which is always a fun one to get. :-) It is my favourite colour, after all.
Chipped away at some bullet journal stuff, figuring out duedates and where the hell Study Week actually falls, (lame, I have a midterm and a report due right when we come back, though I've been pondering getting all of the reports out of the way NOW, rather than waiting until they're assigned, since I've done all of the readings and generally did well enough on the assignment- not as high as I'd hoped, but still an 'A' on the ranking, in so far as I'm aware- though that's a good thing to actually go ahead and check, since a classmate had made mention of a different tier for passing being used in grad school, which I think I do faintly recall- but the water on this floor is cold enough, which is nice. The room can be a bit warm, especially with the trek up, since the firefighters had to come sort out one of the busted elevators. Of course. It wouldn't be a day on campus without something like that going awry.
I'm considering entering a sci-fi space themed game based off of the writing that Grayson and I have been getting up to, since we sort of took a small pause there, and self contained rooms work great for the concept of the smaller category, but we'll see. I need to finish the haunted house concept first- it's just a vertical slice of an idea I've had for years, and never did quite get around to doing, so it'll be nice to take that one off of my plate when the time comes. I'm making good progress on it. Just sort of rusty when it comes to coding. But it's like riding a bike: you don't really forget, and you can totally harvest old parts to reshuffle and reuse as needed. That's one of the joys of your hobbies accumulating on top of one another.
Grayson and Tabitha also made a very sweet comment about how they always look forward to seeing my collaged coverart, so that was really nice. I'm quite happy with the one I whipped together for this game. First one in awhile. Feels weirdly fitting that it would also be another spooky house vaguely gothic take on things. But the monster isn't inside of the house, this time around: it is the house.
P wanted to play what I had so far when she's back home from work, so I really have to get my shit together on it, haha. Such are the joys of speed / timed creation events.
