"I'm sure you'll figure it out"
Please don't tell me this. Maybe I won't. Maybe in Jan when I don't meet the work requirements for medical and food benefits it will actually just kill me. Not everyone has friends and family they can fall back on if they become homeless. Do you think I'm lying when I say I don't? Is this just the thing you say to keep up the illusion that everything is fine? It's not like I'm the only person who will be kicked off food stamps and medicaid next year. Do you just think we're all lazy and didn't think to get a job to keep those benefits? Have you tried to get a job in the past year? It's not easy when you have an obvious visible medical issue, a job gap, and are competing with hundreds of other people for the same position.
This is America: you need to be working a min of 20 hours a week to recieve food benefits and medication that you will die without. This is social murder of thousands of chroniclly ill people who "aren't sick enough" for SSI disability but also don't have a job. Even if I do get a job between now and then, what happens if I lose that job? I've lost two jobs in the past because one owner fled the country because he was committing fraud and the second job because the owner retired. So I lose healthcare and food EVEN IF I follow their rules but I get unlucky because the economy is shitty and nobody's job is safe?
For this and many other reasons I feel like I'm losing my mind more than I already have.
