Happy Birthday to Dolly Parton and Edgar Poe.
The year/month so far has been uneventful and dull, but I've done
a couple of things that some might consider accomplisments. There
are now two (admittedly old & slow) tablet PCs with working Linux
systems on them and my webserver and dedicated irc client are back
on the Web thing. Work is sparse atm, so I have time to do many of
the things I always say I'm going to do over the winter: tidy the
house from top to bottom, finish some paintings, sell some crap.
But of course, when the opportunity arises to do any of this, my
anxiety tells me to think of as many unpleasant things all at once
as I possibly can to distract my brain from doing anything useful.
Even writing this has raised my stress level.
But anyway, the days are slowly getting longer, hopefully soon to
be warmer as well, which gives me a little bit of hope that some
things might be accomplished in tyhe coming days. I have a new
derailleur that needs to go on my bike, but that's yet another one
of those "gonna get around to it" things that may still be undone
in April. I dunno.
I guess that's all for today...a brief rant about procrastinating,
which is itself really just another form of procrastination.

Wednesday. The first week of 2026 is passed. I spent yesterday and
today messing around with a Panasonic Toughpad I got on Ebay. It's
in mostly working order, although the speakers seem to do nothing
(headphone port works fine). I'd started out with Gnome on Debian,
but the touchscreen frequently stopped working until I plugged in
a keyboard to wake it back up. I then tried Plasma, but I couldn't
get the onscreen keyboard to work except on the login screen. The
more I tried to fix it, the worse things got. So I gave up on Deb
and installed Ubuntu (Debian would have been fine if it had a real
keyboard attached all the time...might eventually do that). Ubuntu
has an onscreen keyboard that actually shows up when it's needed.
Unfortunately it's not a complete keyboard. There are no function
keys, no Esc, no Winkey, and sometimes no arrows or modifier keys.
I have no idea how to fix this. Pressing the "configure keyboard"
button just takes you to the generic keyboard settings where you
can set the kbd language. Nothing about the display.
So it's mostly working now. I shut it off, and I'm back on the
desktop with a proper keyboard, mouse, and large screen. Tommorow
or Friday I should be getting some RAM for the m1400 tablet, so
I'll move back to messing with that one soon.

Hi. I'm new. First post, etc.
This is just me testing things out. I've got some experience with
html and Gopher, but have not experimented with Gemini yet. That
will likely be my next bit of exploration.
I'm currently limiting line lengths to 67 characters, as we do with
Gopher, and looking forward to seeing how ttbp handles translation
to HTML.
Now here's some unicode: euro € | cool emoji 😎 | full block █
