Modifying my default defensive response when someone is super mean to me, from explaining myself or arguing, to silence, thought and eye contact has proven significant in my ability to entirely switch the outcome.

What used to be a back and forth where I ended up being the one to apologize for something I didn't do, became 5 minutes of silence and them apologizing for what they did wrong. Marvelous.
