I went to a theme park today!

I also told my boss from the game development job that I'm burnt out and it isn't worth the stress I'm experiencing.

Work has picked up. I'm getting a haircut during my lunch period. I go to Detroit tomorrow evening. I'm excited to at least try to go swimming after work :D it should be warmer and sunnier. We'll see how that goes, lol. I told my friend who lives in Cleveland about EDMtrain as he was asking about how people found out about shows in the area. It changed my life, I hope it changes his :p

I got my haircut, it is nice and it was super cheap in comparison to other haircuts at other places. Turns out the woman who gave me the haircut is a former student of my aunt's; my aunt teaches ESL for immigrant adults, as well as providing evening school vocational classes for a few areas of expertise. The woman moved from Albania some time ago, and is now living in Florida.

I feel a very heavy burden on my heart. This is for many reasons, some I cannot describe, but most recently because of something I am doing at work as we speak. Howard Miller, the furniture company, the people who are world-famous for their grandfather clocks, the ones that are a year shy from their 100th anniversary as a company, are slowly shutting down and letting people go. I was given an Excel spreadsheet of all of the employees who were to be let go, in order to cancel their phone service and thus also reduce the monthly phone bill. It was heartbreaking, for some bizarre reason - like putting each person into a shredder where they won't come out. I know my impact is zero, but it was just sad to see all these people with families, lives and livelihoods just... on an Excel spreadsheet, even categorized by a number (their extension number.) It made me think about the uncertain times we live in.

Contractually, their agreement was scheduled until 2026, and a reduction would typically involve a 60-day notice and an Early Termination Fee (ETF). However, I asked the accounting department if we can waive all contractual obligations, including the Early Termination Fee and the 60-day notice requirement, just because my heart ached for the fact that this is a sinking ship. It wouldn't help all of the employees that got let go, but... I don't know. I felt it was the least we could do.
