A new shoot
Photography fun
Back to fun
After spending the last 6 months feverishly obsessing over photography I finally took a break. I went downtown with a work friend to just walk around and took pictures. I made it a point to bring one of my simplest cameras. No interchangable lenses or TTL metering. Just a little Ziess rangefinder from the 50's. I had a blast! I let go of all of the pressure to take great pictures, to get perfect exposure, to use the zone system, to "get it right". I just relaxed and clicked the shutter.
I also chilled out when making the prints in the darkroom. I didn't spend 4 hours trying to get one print right. I spent 2 hours and made 4 prints. They aren't great. They aren't even good. But I had fun with it. I got back to something I'd lost. In trying to persue proficiency I lost sight of what brought me to photography in the first place.
